Have you ever wished you could change the world? Did you know you can? It starts with one child. If you have been to one of my concerts recently you have heard me share about Mission of Mercy, an organization very close to my heart. Founded 50 years ago in Calcutta, India as an inner-city outreach, Mission of Mercy is now currently involved in 23 countries. The organization exists to minister to the spiritual, physical, social, mental, and emotional needs of children in developing nations, who live in poverty.
The vision is to see the children experience transformation and wholeness through God’s love and ultimately transform and redeem their communities as adults. For $25 a month your sponsor child will attend school, receive medical attention, eat nutritional meals, and participate in activities and programs that are created and developed to equip the children to reach their God-given potential.
In Matthew 25 Jesus says, “what you do for the least of these my brothers, you do to me.” What an awesome way to worship God, through sponsoring one of the “least of these!” I recently visited Mission of Mercy’s international headquarters in Colorado Springs, Colorado and met everyone involved. These people are the real deal – transparent hearts, each sacrificially giving and passionately serving God. They recognize the value of children in God’s kingdom and are generous beyond measure of their lives, time, and resources. All for the children – “for as long as it takes.”
My wife, Roxann & I sponsor two children through Mission of Mercy,we correspond with them, sending cards and small gifts. It is incredibly rewarding to know that we are making a monumental difference in the lives of these two precious souls. We pray that one day, Hanza & Haya, will, like many other sponsor children, continue as adults to sow into Mission of Mercy and transform their communities and world.
